No river on Long Island has quite the history as the Peconic. At 15 miles long, the Peconic River is one of the island’s longest rivers and is the only river oriented west to east. Its story dates back millions of years including moments like the construction of dams constructed and now its designation as a “scenic river” under the Wild, Scenic, and Recreational Rivers Act (NYDEC).

This lecture is free with admission to the Lighthouse.
