Mission To promote and foster understanding and stewardship of coastal ecosystems through research and education. The Coastal Research and Education Society of Long Island, was founded in the summer of 1996 by a group of experts in marine mammal science, environmental sciences, education and conservation. CRESLI was formed for the purposes of conducting research, providing educational experiences, and promoting conservation of coastal ecosystems. Research and education are inextricably linked in all CRESLI activities. As such, CRESLI actively develops cooperative alliances with researchers, educational institutions, and the participation of the public. Our pinniped and cetacean research projects, for example, utilize public whale watch cruises and seal walks/cruises as platforms for educating the public and conducting research at the same time. We are an entirely volunteer-based organization. Become one of our volunteers! Commercial fishers, pleasure boaters, and the public at large have also been enlisted to provide sighting information used in population and distribution studies. This public participation has not only led to the finding that Long Island's coastlines provide a essential habitat for pinnipeds, cetaceans and sea turtles, but has also fostered greater awareness and appreciation of these animals and their habitats among fishers, boaters and the public.

Montauk Air LLC

Montauk is the place that inspired me to begin taking photos. Beginning in the late 1970s, my family and I spent entire summers in Montauk. Using a Canon AE-1 gifted to me by my favorite aunt, I captured 35mm images of fish, birds and many, many sunsets. These photos were early attempts at communicating my perspective of this magical spot at the end of Long Island. Because my Dad was a pilot, my parents chose the site for our house based on its proximity to Montauk Airport (MTP). For several years, my Dad and a friend leased the airport from Perry Duryea and they also ran a small air charter business called Montauk Air using a Cessna 207 to ferry passengers to Connecticut or Block Island or wherever they needed to go. Even though I spent a lot of time in small airplanes - I even worked at the airport every summer - I never did get my pilot's license. But I still remember the view of Montauk from the co-pilot seat of my Dad's plane. And my drone allows me to share that view with you. I hope you like the images I've chosen. Take a look around the site and don't be shy about reaching out with any questions. I still have a few of those early 35mm photos of Montauk in a box somewhere or other. Founded in 1983 by Bill Akin, Montauk Chamber Music Society presented a number of classical concerts and recitals in private venues. As Music Director, New York cellist Fredrick Zlotkin was instrumental in bringing world renowned musicians such as pianist Misha Dichter to Montauk. In 1991 the name Music For Montauk was adopted when producing concerts for the general public became a priority. Soon there after Ruth Widder assumed management of the organization. Ruth was instrumental in producing over 90 free concerts for local residents from Montauk to Watermill. After Mrs. Widder's passing in 2013, founder Bill Akin was thrilled to pass the leadership torch to Lilah Gosman, a Montauk native who has pursued a multi-track career trajectory in New York City as both a musician and specialist educator, together with her husband Miloš Repický, a pianist and conductor who is in his 9th season on the roster of the Metropolitan Opera. Ms Gosman and Mr Repický's fresh artistic vision for Music for Montauk launched in Spring, 2015. Mission Statement: A fresh and dynamic approach to classical music, for everyone. SAMMYS... Happy to be starting our 13th Season, Sammys is the brainchild of Chef Sam Joyce who has created a dockside restaurant at 448 West Lake Drive that is all Montauk, casual, family friendly, and laid back. Sam is a local guy who has been cooking in town during the Summer season and off season cooking in Winter destinations like Hawaii, Mexico, Florida and California. Montauk is very excited for him to have his own restaurant. Look for such casual fare as Mary's Lobster Roll and Shrimp Po Boy, and clams and oysters on the half shell. You can order entrees like grilled steak or Sammy's soft tacos, many appetizers are made to share. Even though seafood plays prominently on the menu, other fare is offered along with soups, salads, and sandwiches. Private Parties are also one of Sam's specialties Come for lunch, dinner, drinks or just a snack. Sit inside or outside on the patio and watch the boats in the Harbor. If staying in is what you like call us for a take out order.

Sylvester Manor

Over the course of its long history, the property that is now Sylvester Manor Educational Farm has been a Native American hunting ground, a feudal plantation staffed by Enslaved people, a market farm selling to cities across the northeast, and the country estate of Eben Norton Horsford, the father of modern food chemistry. In 2009, Bennett Konesni, a descendant of the founding Sylvester Family, began growing vegetables in the Windmill Field. It was his enthusiasm and vision that inspired the inception of Sylvester Manor Educational Farm. Together with the strong support of his uncle, and heir to the estate, Eben Ostby, and a dedicated group of community members the 501c3 non-profit was born, with the mission to cultivate, preserve and share these lands, buildings and stories, inviting new thought about the importance of food, culture and place in our daily lives. On the farm, we are able to reflect on the importance of food and the culture surrounding it over these last few centuries — who grew it, how it was processed, how it was shared or marketed, and the associated skills, songs, dances, and stories. It is this food culture that has helped shape how we as a community, view our food. Today, we explore Sylvester Manor’s role in the future of food by inviting the community to share produce grown on the property through our CSA and Farmstand, and to attend workshops, concerts, dances and other events that shed light on food, culture and place.

Hi, I’m Lauren, creator of TinyTauk. I have been operating my business here in beautiful Montauk for the past 5 years and it’s very possible that I have already taken care of your children! If not, let me tell you a little bit about myself… I have over 28 years of experience as a caregiver to prominent families in New York – some include the owner & developer of Ubisoft, a former South African supermodel, an artistic reality TV star, a Manhattan socialite, and a cast member of the TV show Blue Bloods to name (and not name) a few. After receiving training as a postpartum doula and choosing a more relaxed way of life, I moved to Montauk full-time in 2018. Here, I focus on TinyTauk and my passions such as yoga, painting & illustration, and long walks by the water with my small dog, The Great Gatsby. I am certified by the Red Cross in infant/child CPR and Anaphylaxis Injector protocols – I hold extensive experience in newborn specialist care, Montessori curriculums and have worked side by side with children’s special needs therapists in our playroom. TinyTauk has been my labor of love since 2019, bringing you convenient evening babysitting on site at our local hotels or in your summer home. In 2021, we expanded our business to include a physical playroom for evening drop-off, movie nights, creative classes, children’s yoga and summer enrichment sessions for young children.
